A 2-YEAR-OLD DOG IN DAET, CAMARINES NORTE DIED BECAUSE OF ANIMAL CRUELTY

A Philippine native female dog (Aspin) named Heyhey died this week due to stabbing incident in the neighborhood of Purok IV, Barangay Dogongan, Daet, Camarines Norte.

August 30, 2021, Monday, when Daet Saving Strays (a volunteer-based animal welfare organization) received a message from Julie Abarca asking for assistance for her poor dog that was stabbed by their neighbor.

According to the blotter report in the barangay, the suspect named Junior Rivera has been reported in the area for habitual abuse of dogs who roam around their lawn.

Daet Saving Strays team immediately helped Ms. Abarca to bring Heyhey to the local veterinary for appropriate and necessary medical treatment. Unfortunately, the dog died shortly afterwards due to severity of the stabbed area in its body. According to Dr. Mark Christian Par, the dog’s intestine was already cut out into pieces that made her condition worse.

On the other hand, another animal welfare organization called Strays Worth Saving (SWS) sponsored the veterinary expenses of Heyhey.

Meanwhile, the dog’s owner and her family would like to pursue filing a case against the suspect under RA No. 8485 Section 6.

One of the advocacies of Daet Saving Strays is raise awareness in animal cruelty and pet neglect. These are criminal offenses. Concerned citizens must not turn a blind eye because these helpless animals cannot defend themselves. DSS needs everyone’s help in stopping animal cruelty and bringing offenders to justice.
