15 INDIGENOUS PEOPLES (IPS) UNDERGO SKILLS TRAINING ON HANDICRAFT MAKING AT CAPALONGA, CAMARINES NORTE LAST 24 NOVEMBER 2021

A joint project of DTI Camarines Norte, NCIP and 902nd Infantry Brigade under the leadership of BGen. Jaime A. Abawag Jr., Brigade Commander implemented the training to produce handicraft made of coconut fiber for the Manide Tribe of Barangay Alayao, Capalonga, Camarines Norte.

The activity is a convergence effort under EO 70 in partnership with DTI’s SME Roving Academy to promote income opportunities and provide an access to market through business venture by capacitating the community, especially the IPs, being one of the vulnerable sectors from the exploitation of Communist Terrorist Groups.

The Manide Tribe in Barangay Alayao headed by Mrs. Joy Verzo, IP Mandatory Representative thanked the government for giving priority to IPs so that they can have opportunity to improve their economic status even this time of pandemic.The event was a success with the strict observance of basic health safety protocols to ensure the safety of each participant and prevent the possible spread of COVID-19.
