Based on the recent biosurveillance report of the Department of Health (DOH) Bicol yesterday, December 28, 2021, there is no new COVID-19 variants of concern (VOC) added in Camarines Norte few days before 2021 ends.
At present, there are forty-four (44) VOCs in the province and thirty-seven among them are delta variant; these cases are from the municipalities Basud, Daet, Jose Panganiban, Labo, Mercedes, Paracale, Sta. Elena, Talisay and Vinzons.
Meanwhile, the remaining seven (7) cases are beta variant from municipalities of Daet, Jose Panganiban, San Vicente and Sta. Elena.
According to DOH, these data are based on the specimens that were submitted to Philippine Genome Center.
As omricon variant approaches and detected in different parts of the country, DOH Bicol COVID-19 program coordinator Dr. Lulu Ramos Santiago encourages and reminds everyone to stay alert and prepared in the possible entry of omricon variant in Bicol Region.
