COVID 19 VACCINATION AMONG KIDS IN BICOL REGION POSSIBLE TO BEGIN NEXT WEEK

The Department of Health Bicol announced the possibility of Covid-19 vaccine roll out among children 5 to 11 years old to begin next week.

The government on Monday, February 7, started the pilot rollout of COVID-19 vaccination for five to 11 years old in the country started in the National Capital Region.

Meanwhile, DOH Bicol will start the roll out next week as soon as vaccines arrive in the region.

In Camarines Norte, DOH Provincial Officer Dr. Jocelyn Iraola said that preparations are underway since vaccination among children is a different matter than those of the adults therefore there is a need for thorough assessment and preparation.

Iraola also mentioned the importance of informing children and parents about the shot and making them understand the importance of Covid – 19 vaccine as they are receiving too many comments from parents who are hesitant to allow vaccination on their children.

Health Secretary Duque also asked the parents to help the government spread awareness about the pediatric vaccination and encourage other parents who are hesitant to get their kids vaccinated against COVID-19.

Vaccination in the Philippines pushed through despite a petition filed by two parents before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court to stop the impending COVID-19 vaccination for children because of a clause in the DOH rule that grants the government the power to give its consent for a minor willing to get vaccinated

The national rollout will be on February 14, the National Vaccination Operations Center said Saturday.
