Based on the recent Biosurveillance report of Department of Health (DOH) as of March 11, 2022, no new COVID-19 variant was detected in Camarines Norte.
Since the surge of positive cases last January 2022, the variant of concerns detected in the province remains at 44. There are 37 delta variant detected from municipalities of Basud, Daet, Jose Panganiban, Labo, Mercedes, Paracale, Sta. Elena, Talisay and Vinzons.
While the remaining 7 are beta variant from Daet, Jose Panganiban, San Vicente and Sta. Elena.
However, the DOH clarifies that this data is only based on the specimen submitted to the Philippine Genome Center (PGC) and does not reflect the total number of circulating variants in the community.
DOH also stated that numbers may be subjected to revision based on further investigation.
Meanwhile, DOH is continuously reminding everyone to stay alert despite the decreasing number of active cases of the coronavirus. There is still a possibility of discovering a new variant of COVID-19 if the cases rise up again.
Everyone is still advised to practice safety and health protocols and get vaccinated against COVID-19 for protection.
