Despite having the highest percentage of schools that participated in the expanded limited face-to-face classes in the Bicol Region, DepEd Camarines Norte recorded low percentage of students attending face to face classes especially in secondary schools.
According to Schools Division Superintendent Nympha Guemo, there are schools that have few student attendees even though many parents and students prefer face to face classes than distant learning.
The agency recorded only of 53. 21 % Junior High School attendees from the total number of students who signified attendance before the onset of face to face classes.
Senior High School has even lower percentage of 36. 66 % attendees from the number of students who signified that they prefer face to face mode of learning.
The officer stated that one of the reasons for such is the parents’ livelihoods that are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic thus financial matters such as pocket money and expensive fare especially to those who live far away from schools are being considered by families.
Another common reason according to Guemo is the relocation of students and some also chose to work so they preferred modular learning.
On the other side, DepEd foresees the opening of limited in-person classes to give hope to teachers, parents and students that a return to some degree of normalcy is forthcoming.
