BANTAYOG FESTIVAL 2022 ACTIVITIES TO PUSH THROUGH THIS YEAR; STILL NO CROWD-DRAWING FESTIVITIES

The province’s highly anticipated Bantayog Festival will push through this year with virtual and physical activities lined up.

Camarines Norte Provincial Tourism Operations Office Head Mr. Mariano “Bong” Palma revealed during the recent Provincial Task Form on Covid-19 and ASF meeting that their office is currently busy preparing for the 2-week long celebration of the province’s commemorative anniversary and Bantayog Festival that is expected to attract local and foreign tourists as this is the first year that they will be conducting physical or face to face activities since the onset of pandemic.

However, unlike its predecessors, there will still be no actual or on-street street dancing and grand parades to be held. Instead, simpler and meaningful activities will be held in lieu of the crowd-gathering festivities despite the reports of zero active cases of Covid-19 in the province.

In a separate interview with the officer, Mr. Palma stated that the celebration will begin on April 18, 2022 instead of the usual date of commemoration which is April 15 in respect to the Catholic church’s observance of the Holy Week.

Activities in line up include commemorative program, flag raising ceremony, cookfest featuring culinary tourism, Zumba, Bantayog Beach Volleyball, clean up drive, mangrove planting, ml tournament, Miss Teen International Philippines, Mr. and Ms. Beach Body, car show and the firs ever Mixed Martial Arts Tournamnet.

In line with this, Mr. Palma advises the public to cautious and be mindful of everyone’s safety during the festivity. He requests everyone to strictly follow health protocols. He also added the importance of being vaccinated to further restrict the spread of virus among crowds.
