Aimed to showcase the modernize way and technology in the field of agriculture specifically in the production of hybrid rice, the Provincial Hybrid Rice Technology Demonstration spearheaded a one-day event called Rice Harvest Festival held at Brgy. Awitan, Daet, Camarines Norte.
Said event was participated by 280 individuals from different agencies and farmers. This activity also desires to address to help the farmers to have plentiful harvest and higher income.
This was facilitated by the Department of Agriculture through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist and Municipal Agriculture Office – Daet last March 28, 2022.
With a total land area of 100 hectares, 17 variants of hybrid rice from 7 Hybrid Rice Companies were planted in the land area. This was started last December 2021 with the participation of various companies like Bayer, Corteva, Leads Agri, Long Ping, Seed Works, SL Agritech and Syngenta.
A farm walk in 7 station of different seed companies was also conducted that shows and explains the different varieties of their hybrid rice and technical information presentation as part of the technology demonstration and promotion.
In addition, a sensory testing for the rice from the harvest was also showed, in this way the trader, miller, retailer and consumers can check the aroma, flavor, tenderness, moistness and stickiness of the rice.
The event was also graced and participated by Provincial Agriculturist, Engr. Almirante A. Abad, Mr. Gabriel Atole, Regional Officer of Fertilizer and Pesticide Authority, Mr. Earl Vincent Vegas, Regional Rice Focal Person of Department of Agriculture – 5 and Mr. Roberto U. Sale, Provincial Administrator as representative of Governor Edgardo A. Tallado.
