HERD IMMUNITY STILL INDEFINITE IN CAMNORTE; VACCINATED INDIVIDUALS STILL AT 67%

Based on the recent report and data of Department of Health Bicol, province of Camarines Norte is still far to reach its herd immunity against COVID-19 and total number of vaccinated individuals still doesn’t reach at least 70% of the total population of the province.

The province’s target is to have 506,737 individuals to get their corona virus jab, but the total number of vaccinated individuals is still at 341,834 or 67.19% of its coverage rate.

The Provincial Health Office already said recently that the province is close to reach herd immunity but due to increase of target in vaccination, the immunization coverage went down.

Because of this, Camarines Norte will remain at Alert Level 2 until the end of the month. According to PHO, herd immunity must be reached to achieve the lowest alert level in the province.

Meanwhile, healthcare utilization in the province remains to be low. Last Monday, DOH reported that in 132 covid beds, only 12 were used or 9.1%.

In addition, no use of ICU beds and mechanical ventilator for covid patients were recorded recently.
