PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN CAMNORTE TO INTENSIFY THE 4 O’CLOCK HABIT AGAINST DENGUE

Amidst the continuous increase of dengue cases in Camarines Norte, making it to second with the highest number of cases in Bicol Region, Dr. Nympha Guemo, Camarines Norte Schools Division Superintendent encouraged the school heads and public-school teachers to practice the 4 o’clock habit against dengue.

According to Dr. Guemo, their office released an announcement to all school heads and teachers through the school health personnel to maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of every school.

She emphasized that not only waterways or canals are needed to be cleaned but also flower bases and any area with stagnant water where mosquitos can lay their eggs.

The 4s strategy against dengue is highly required of the Department of Health.

The 4S campaign stands for “Search and Destroy” mosquito breeding places, “Secure Self Protection” from a mosquito bite, “Seek Early Consultation” when signs and symptoms of dengue occur, and “Say Yes to Fogging” as a last resort when there is an impending outbreak.

Parents Teacher Association, Local Government Unit, and Municipal Health Office are also encouraged to collaborate with this movement.

Dr. Guemo also added that the public should also take serious precautions not only in COVID-19 but also in dengue to avoid its widespread among the pupils.

Based on DOH’s data, there are already confirmed 187 dengue cases in the province.
